Applications

Oscillating / Traverse Rewinding Machine is designed for precision winding of narrow steel strips and metal strips after slitting process.

GLORY MACHINERY provides single and multiple oscillating rewinding solutions with accurate traverse control, stable strip tension and high-quality coil building.

The machines are widely used for stainless steel strip, carbon steel strip, silicon steel strip, transformer strip and other precision metal processing applications.

Our oscillating rewinding machines can be integrated with narrow slitting lines to achieve efficient strip separation, rewinding and packaging solutions.

Built by GLORY MACHINERY strip edge trimming machine manufacturer, available as single or multiple oscillating winder configurations.

What Is the Oscillating Winder?

An oscillating winder is a traverse winding machine built for narrow steel strip. After slitting or edge trimming, narrow strips must be rewound into compact, shippable coils — yet a conventional recoiler cannot take up multiple narrow strips at once without tangling or edge damage. The oscillating winder solves this with a traverse mechanism: each winding head travels back and forth laterally as the strip feeds in, laying the strip neatly layer upon layer onto a flanged spool. Because the traverse motion is synchronized with the strip feed, every layer sits squarely on the last, producing tight, uniform packages with stable tension from the first meter to the last — even at high speed.

GLORY MACHINERY oscillating winders are rated for strip widths from 5 mm to 40 mm, covering the full range of slit and edge-trimmed narrow strip. Each spool can carry up to 2 MT of strip, so changeovers stay infrequent even on long runs. The standard spool width is 400 mm, with a maximum of 500 mm for wider packages. Winding speed is generally 150 m/min, matching typical trimming and slitting lines, while high-speed models reach up to 400 m/min for lines that run flat out.

The system is modular. A single oscillating winder can serve a compact trimming line or a small slitting line where only a few strips are produced. For high-output lines, multiple winders combine into a multi-head recoiling station — available in 6, 8, 12 and 18 pcs configurations — so that every slit strip gets its own dedicated winding head in a single pass. Each head winds independently with its own tension control, which means strips of different widths can be rewound side by side without interference. This multi-head layout is the standard choice for modern slitting lines, where a dozen or more narrow strips must be rewound simultaneously, neatly and without cross-winding.

Oscillating winders integrate seamlessly with upstream equipment. Paired with a strip edge trimming line, they form a complete trim-and-rewind system: the trimming modules deburr, chamfer or round the strip edges, and the oscillating winder immediately rewinds the finished narrow strip onto spools — no intermediate handling, no extra floor space. They are equally at home behind a slitting line, collecting slit strips directly as they leave the slitter. Either way, the result is a true coil-to-spool workflow, from master coil to finished, spool-packed narrow strip, in one continuous automated process.
